Deducting Style Points: The Execution Of Saddam

"When Saddam Hussein comes out looking like the only adult in the room, you know things are royally fucked up."

Tree Hugging Sister makes some good points about the manner in which the tyrant met his end.

Yes it was a major, savage, snuff film type cluster(b)uck. But at the end of the day- Saddam is taking the dirt nap.

Using my 20/20 hindsight. Did he really deserve a dignified death? I would have put a clown nose and wig on him, and painted on a smile. Then let everyone in the room slap him with their shoes before he dropped. But that's just me and my 20/20.

He still went out a lot more dignified then the countless innocent people he had put to death.

Hey Donnah,

This fng, AmeriDan, is pretty good - you've done some good recruiting. The clown idea and shoe slapping is first rate.

I was thinking of a New Years Hat and one of those party horns in the behind for one last triumphal note with which to end his reign and the ring out the year. Get back to me for piņata ideas on Cinco de Mayo!

But the clown idea - can't beat it.

Clarification to the last sentence in my last comment:

He was allowed a more dignified setting in which to die, then any of the countless people that he murdered. Or had murdered.

The writer of that that post made some very rightous observations. Good, good job.
I thought the same days ago. I was wondering when someone else would say so too.
The souls of those murdered by Hussein didn't recieve vidication with that sort of execution.
When was their names mentioned?
Only cleric so-n-so.
As long as they keep that mind set, the cycle of atrocities will continue in that country with new hidden graves to be found.
Come soon, Lord Jesus.

I agree 100%, and cudo's for the "party horns in the behind" addition. I think Saddam would have wanted it that way.

Dear therealnancy,

I say this with the utmost respect for you, and pain for his victims. He was such a monster and cruel in his murderous ways that no account of them will ever do them justice. I know that sounds cruel, but once you've been murdered by being thrown into a shredder, after seeing your wife and daughter raped. The only thing that will let you rest is peace is knowing that the b*stards that did it will get theirs' in the end.

The main b*stard got his. Rest in peace lost souls, you may not be remembered as individuals- but your murders have been avenged.

The 'state' as an entity, if it is ever to rise above the chaos it attempts to govern and attain legitimacy, must dispense justice and impose penalty in an august, reasoned and terrible manner or it is no different than the monster it destroys.

On a far smaller scale, Timothy McVeigh was also such a monster ~ a NATIONAL monster. He was destroyed at the behest of the people by the state in a solemn ritual in the Federal Penitentiary at Terre Haute. There were plenty who would gladly have ripped him limb from limb but, had they acted, that's a 'mob'. The state can never sanction a 'mob' or it becomes one. In Iraq they haven't made the transition FROM one. This has proved they are still factional and tribal, with no true intention of unity or blindness to their neighbor's sect or race.

And thanks, Donnah. Bunches.

I'm in complete agreement with you, Sister. There's a powerful bit of footage of a stonefaced McVeigh, after he'd first been arrested, doing a perp walk in orange jumpsuit and shackles. The crowd, naturally, was booing. But it was a large crowd, and the sound was loud and intense. Although he was a monster, he was put to death dispassionately and in strict accordance with the rule of law.

".....the only real peace is knowing that....."

real peace is knowing that justice has been served for his shameful crimes and that they will not happen again.
No, they will not happen again by Hussein, but the shameless behavior I saw in the video leads me to believe that it will happen again.
Those young men would fed somebody into a shredder too in the name of, or by the word of a new parinoid dictator.
If history has taught us anything, whether it was catholic/protestant, communism, or even the French Revolution really hidious civil terrorism is used to hold on to personal power. It's madness.
They should have stay above reproach and let Hell take care of Hussein. Now it's a new can of worms.

I acknowledge your point realnancy...and Sisters' too.

Well...for the record..

If it comes down to it, I could see myself dragging
a terrorrist through the streets from the back of my car.

All it would take is a few well placed 'terrorist incidents' near enough to home that some of *my* people were harmed. If everybody sits in contemplation of the proper way we are to fight this war, we are without a doubt, doomed.

So we have to assign certain *nasty* jobs to someone. I never liked doing post mortem care, but when the code doesn't turn out so well..

Everybody I talked to wanted to see it live. I did. I am certain that if they had the time, and Saddam was stubborn enough, they would have hanged him over and over again.. much like his torture
specialists drilled holes over and over through the hands of folks they had a beef with, before they raped or set fire to them..*or both*.

He got off easy, our own wild, wild, west was at least as nasty at times..probably much worse, for less...WAY less, horse thieves were routinely hanged. I doubt they said a little quiet prayer while everyone of them took place..Irak is a knew cuntree..formd buy idjits..THERE NEEDS to be a few messed up hangings..they might inspire a sense of
patriotism in these folks.

I think we should also take note of the impact this video has on the fence-sitting, bleeding heart, imagine all the people, rosiefied crowd.

Any of them that got a peek had to realize..hey these people are barbarians..maybe we should let the Republicans kick their ass after all.

Alas, capitalist pig that I am..I see Irak losing millions. They should Pay Per View all hangings from the trials, and use the money to start a football franchise.

btw, the soldier that shot John Wilkes Booth was a great shot..separated the brain from the body by cutting the spinal cord with a .50 cal. ball.

He lived for a couple hours after...I wonder if their was any hooting and hollering going on during that time.

Saddam was lucky, and he knew it.
