Ohioans Briefly In Demand

Florida Guard in Iraq thirsty for Buckeye tears:

Florida is set to play Ohio State tomorrow in Arizona for the college championship title, and Officer Kodey Henderson can't wait.

The St. Augustine native has designated her Florida Army National Guard unit's recreation room in Iraq as the "Gator Room." She and other Florida fans from the Cecil Field-based C Company of the First Battalion of the 111th Aviation Regiment will be watching the game early Tuesday morning at Camp Echo, about 100 miles south of Baghdad.

Henderson is many time zones away from the game, but she says her only problem is not having any Ohio units at Camp Echo to taunt.

Go Gators.

On Tuesday morning Henderson is going to feel lucky there are no Ohio units near her.

Go Buckeyes!

GO GATORS!

Full Disclosure: I'm a University of Memphis Tigers fan.

But since they never seem to make it to the National Championship Game- I can pick and choose who I want to win each year. This year it is Florida without a doubt. I have a love/hate type thing going on with them. Much like with The University of Tennesse or Ole' Miss, but stronger.

I want them to do well on the national stage so that when the Tigers beat them...
PAR-Tay in Memphis! It doesn't happen often, but ya gotta take what you can get.

As for Florida, it is my favorite vacation destination (Space Coast), and the Gators have given me two of the greatest football games I've ever seen. Not counting the one time, out of a million, that we beat the VOLS.

The great Emmitt Smith was the running back for the Gators when they played a two year home and away series with the Tigers. The first year was in Florida (watched it on TV), the Gators where ranked somewhere in the top five. The Tigers pulled off the greatest upset of the year in college football. Unfortunatly, they injured Mr. Smith (not intentionally) and wrecked the rest of the season for the Gators- Championship wise.

The next year? They came to the Liberty Bowl and were ready to rumble. My brother and I are in the stands and ready to see a hard fought football game. With another upset.

Did I mention that the Gators were pissed off and breathing fire? They were. Emmitt ran over and around and through the defense. He was a giant that day. They gave us a serious smackdown, yet it was an incredible sight to see. Tiger fans were actually applauding his long runs to the endzone.

So GO GATORS! But watch out for those Tigers if we ever meet again.

Go Buckeyes!

We are eating gator here. One of the large grocery stores here in Ohio has stocked gator meat.

Should be a great game

Prediction: suicides at Cedar Point as people jump off roller coasters while clutching armloads of Buckeye apparel.

Ohio is 0-7 against the *over-rated* SEC. This time won't be any different.

besides..it would just be too much to bear to be beaten by a bunch of sweater-vested yankees.

Gatorbait !
