Duane's been known to play percussion before, but never anything so elaborate.
Wail on, Skydog!
And a special pic for Ben on his birthday:

Thanks to Sheila for the drum pic.
Thanks to Sheila and Donnah for the drum pic, never seen that one before. I was getting a little worried there, Donnah: when I got to work today and didn't see a Duane pic, I had to double check to make sure it was Wednesday. The pics were definitely worth the wait !
Sorry. Not myself these days.

Posted by: richard at March 21, 2007 09:25 PMDonnah, sorry you haven't been feeling well. I had that bug a couple of weeks ago, never slept like that in my life. Mine didn't last but 1 day. Hope yours is of a short duration. Thank you and Sheila for the drum pic. Was the birthday one really for one of his birthdays? More relieved that you are o.k. than seeing the great pics! Wail on Skydog and a great big GET WELL to the Princess of the pics!

Yea this is a funny one, Duane smokin and playin the drums? Was he goofin or could he play them?
And look at the well used LP case under that delicious looking cake... mmmmmm!
And thanks to everyone and special thanks to Donnah and Sheila for the wonderful gifts =D
(and Sheila I could hear the riff, I think, kinda like one in the middle of You Dont Love Me (Fillmore East 71)
Well I got some things to check and Im probably gonna try and learn sommore Duane licks myself.
Have a good week everyone! And get well soon Donnah =). Don't be singin the blues too long... You'll start soundin like Gregg, especially if you have some kind of bug in your throat. =P
(final thought: Whose drumset is it? I think its Butch's)
Wail On! B)
Posted by: Ben at March 23, 2007 10:09 AMYour welcome Ben! Now, get to work and break in that new Les Paul you own! Checked your pictures and the dark burst looks likes very much like Duane's.So like on the LP "Live at the Fillmore East."
"Play all night!" :>
=) I would if I could. But folks round here need sleep, and so do I. Work Saturday morning. Though earlier I got the setup just right on my amp. Less overdrive and more gain, so its cleaner with good bite, and it sounds extremely close to the setup they played like at Fillmore 71. I have the super clean for those easier songs like the beginning of Stormy Monday, and from a light growl to outright burning hot for leading on the overdrive channel, like the beginning of Duanes lead on Liz Reed, when I play those first few notes it sounds EXACTLY the same and I got all excited! =P
Still working things out... If I get it down good enough I'll figure a way to post it up, probably just a .wav file or something.
Still gotta work on the slide technique though... With time, right? =)
Posted by: Ben at March 24, 2007 12:22 AMDuane with J Geils??? C'mon man, they played together a lot- closed the Fillmore Last Night same bill- as for Duane on drums- I am not surprised- I am fairly confident it was for a "hoot" but remember the Little Martha story how it came to Duane in a dream (from Hendrix no less) and he immediately woke up and learned to play it ON THE ORGAN to make sure it was written down- if he knew organ then why not drums???
