A Sad Ending

My former brother-in-law had gone missing. After many days searching, he was found dead yesterday at the age of 54. Born of a good family and blessed with loving parents, drugs and alcohol ate up his life like locusts going through a field:

Efforts continue in the search for a North Fort Myers man missing since last weekend. Marlin James Clapham, 54, of Bartholomew Drive in Suncoast Estates, was last seen by a neighbor walking barefoot north away from his home last Sunday.

Clapham, who goes by the nickname "Mick", is an outpatient of Hope Hospice and is without medication critical to his well-being.

He is described as 6-feet 4-inches, 170 pounds, with shoulder length gray hair and brown eyes. Clapham has numerous tattoos on his arms.

So far, ground and air searches including use of the sheriff's office K-9’s have not been successful.

Condolences to those left behind.

Donnah, you are so sweet and polite :)
It's okay for me to say this...To start,
those dumbass parties are alot fun every once in a while, but when they are made a life style this is the result....
When the medical examiner begins writing observations on this deceased man, his/her first note will be, "a white male approximately 70 (!?) no, make that 53"
then, they will notice the devil tattoos,
next, they'll come around and mark that the right ear has been bitten off..."damn"
When they finally enter the body I can hear the doctors exclaim, "what the hell is this dinner plate doing in here (?!) oh, it's his liver"

I got a little chuckle from the boy outta that,
He knows what's up. :)

True it was one long Dumbass Party, but watch your keen observations around the you-know-whos for a while, even though they're grown.

I've updated the links, btw. While the DP video doesn't depict the dope, it's close enough.

Some people are self destructive and die fast, others take a few decades. I've watched a few dive towards the inevitable and just gotten the hell out of their way after efforts to convince them otherwise. There's just so much you can do if someone is determined to live in a haze without personal responsability. I hate those types of funerals too, ain't much you can say other than you remember those times when they weren't trashed and how nice they were.
My condolences.

I am so sorry to hear about Mick. He was very special to me for many years. Althought it has probably be 13 -15 years since I've seen him, It sadens me to know he died all alone. My condolenses go out to his wife and sons.

His dad, Big Burt, has passed away in just the past couple of days, so all four Claphams are gone now.

I was 28 when I *found out* I was allergic to ETOH..

It just seemed like I was born a quart low.

I celebrated my 30th birthday in an AA meeting. I drank again when Jasmyne died...short time after, but I have managed to put several years together since..

Everybody gets clean..some are even alive when it happens.

In a previous era of Mick's life (74-86) he was around the influence of the Christian life and wonderful people; he shunned them both, but never the less, if he ever for a moment breathed a sincere prayer of faith towards Jesus he'll been seen in Heaven one day with a new body.
My thoughtful step-son reminded me of that, and
I'll share those kind words with the other boys.
