Finally Fred

I feel like I'm waiting on Christmas:

Fred Dalton Thompson is planning to enter the presidential race over the Fourth of July holiday, announcing this week that he has already raised several million dollars and is being backed by insiders from the past three Republican administrations, Thompson advisers told The Politico.

Fred's going to need to make up for lost time, but it'll be exciting watching him do it.

I don't brake for yard sales and I don't pull levers for Yankees or boiled tomatoes. The election was looking pretty grim from where I am. That is until now, when Fred Dalton Thompson lit the flame of hope within my tender heart.

We just need some results out of D.C.

It's getting old as hell listening to the rhetoric, and waiting on the next ANS, or Lohan vid..

I am really hoping Fred Thompson can get something accomplished.

Listening to Hugh Hewitt's show last night, his reaction was that Fred is just another slow-talking Southerner, and he asked if that is what the party (interestingly not the country) needs.

Apparently, he got a lot of email - he said the email was accusing him of making anti-Southern remarks. He denied that was his intent. His producer then showed his understanding of the situation by playing Neil Young's "Southern Man" as bump music. Someone must have enlightened him because the rest of the night he used "Sweet Home, Alabama" as bumper music. For those Yankees reading this, the Lynyrd Skynyrd classic is a response to the anti-Southern content of the Neil Young song.

So, is Hewitt's reaction going to be common? Will the dems attempt to marginalize Fred by claiming that the Republican party has become a regional party?

Since I began reading blogs, I've been surprised to see how much anti-Southern feelings are evident even on conservative sites.
