Puckerin' Duane in Central Park, 1971. That's a rawboned country boy.
Wail on, Skydog!
And since we already got the pucker, here comes the kiss:

Posted by: cindy at June 6, 2007 09:51 AMHey Thanks Donnah! You are awesome, as always! Love that DA KISS!!!!! :>
I owe some very special friends some email, they know who they are! I am still feeling pretty bad, hopin to be doin better soon! Not feeling well at all. Havent been on the pc much.
But, I couldnt miss posting another chapter of Cindy's Duane Allman Notebook for y'all! In fact here is two of em!
Duane was just such a lovable person. He could come up and give you the biggest insult in the world, and it would probably be true; and there was nothing you could say because he'd have this big grin on his face. He'd pinch your cheek or something, just to egg you on. Very few times I saw that man in down spirits; he was always up about something -- 'We're gonna play here,' 'we're gonna do this'."
Candace Oakley
"Duane was very conscientious. If a date was set for 2 o'clock he'd be there at 1:30 restringing his guitar, ready to go at 2. If anybody was late he'd wait until the first take was over, then he'd say, 'Hey man, wish you were here a half-hour ago, I was playing better then'. The way he delivered his strength, you were never antagonized by his being right."
Tom Dowd.
The Utube Gram Parsons and The Flying Burrito Brothers video posted by Donnah below, along with those UTube clips provided when it searches for Gram, should make you feel better.

Posted by: Paco Malo at June 6, 2007 06:06 PMSorry, Csason and Carl... I'm sure you're both off here. Duane didn't play the 'slide songs' on his Hot 'Lanta. Thats what Dickey gave him the SG for. He would play slide on Hot 'Lanta for songs where he started finger style and then switched to slide like Dreams, or maybe Mountain Jam sometimes, while in standard A44 tuning (to prevent warping that beautiful '59).
Songs like their set starters (like Statesboro Blues, Don't Keep Me Wonderin', etc) and the following few songs were played on the SG, tuned to a chord. Those would include Trouble No More. But I could see him makin that face during either of those songs you mentioned, too. Heh. Just gotta put that out there to let y'all know. I got a thing about making what I know known and helping straighten others out if I can.
And I do think he's playing slide, his hands in the right position, fingers pokin out here and there, hah. I look like that when I play slide heeheehee. Looks like probably Dreams to me, but maybe Mountain Jam. Never know, cuz pictures don't have sound with em... Wouldnt that be great?!?
Oh ya! Looks like I'm gonna be able to afford those pickups sometime soon, Sheila. Started my new job full time and gettin payed more. Plus I am getting some soldering practice... useful for guitar upgrades! Duanes Hot 'Lanta '59 sound, here I come! =D
(And thanks again, now and forever more, for showing me that WCR pickup site. TY TY TY!)
(Oh and I still havent decided on which I want first, Fillmore Set or Goodwood, but I'm sure I'll get both eventually, I have 2 guitars or can get another one sometime)
Thanks Donnah for another great picture!
