Legend says that the source of Duane's slide-playing prowess was in his muttonchops, which should never be cut.
Wail on, Skydog!
I may start fasting wednesdays for you and Duane.
Nice pic.
If you could only induce a furry creature like this to invade your laundry room, then you'd have something!
Posted by: Willard at June 13, 2007 09:51 AMPost hair cut picture...nice. Just in case anyone here might be interested, there have been years of damage done to the final resting place of Duane and Brother Berry Oakley. Candace, Berry's sister, has been left to care for this hallowed ground by herself. None of the band members, including Gregg have been any help at all. I guess they don't get the reasons Duane named the band The Allman Brothers Band. Didn't have a thing to do with his last name ya'll. The expense and emotional toll over the years has finally come to a head. Many of us fans have been involved in raising money to put up a fence for the protection of the graves. We have bumper stickers for the Allman/Oakley Fence Fund available. Here is a link for info. //www.allmanbrothersband.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=XForum&file=viewthread&tid=61400.
I hope this is ok Donnah. If not I am sorry. Just can't stand to think of DA being disrespected.
Thank you Donnah (as always)!!
Wail on Skydog and Brother Berry too!!

Awesome picture!
Posted by: Paco Malo at June 13, 2007 11:53 AMtrance, schmance, he's listening and staying two bars ahead at the same time. rub your tummy, pat your slide. ;)
Posted by: richard at June 13, 2007 04:09 PMLet's agree to disagree -- I've seen that look on the face of a number of shaman, musical and otherwise. And regarding your specific observation about "staying two bars ahead": that's similar to what they say about great dancers like Gene Kelly -- they weren't on the beat, they were one step ahead it, essentially creating the music through dance.
Posted by: Paco Malo at June 13, 2007 07:35 PMIt is really an awesome picture of Duane Allman.
Isn't it great to be a Duane Almman fan ?? I mean, I have listened to a lot of pickers..but he melded with that ax in a way that made SRV look like a
student.
Well stated, Mr. C Sason, well stated.
Posted by: Paco Malo at June 14, 2007 10:30 AMHey nice pic Donnah. Never seen any from this set before, I dont think.
And I hope them mutton chops are the source!
(growing my hair out, if i can, and then growing in those chops, maybe not as long like a beard, but they'll be down there connected to my mustache like his)
Thanks for another good one Donnah!
Have a great weekend everyone!
IM SO EXCITED!!!
Im pretty sure Im going to go see the Allman Brothers when they come up my way Aug 3 in NH.
Cant wait to hear Derek roll off them good licks and hear Butch and Jaimoe drum off the beat, and hear Gregg sing and hear his organ bubble and sing!
IM PSYCHED!!!
Gonna kinda lay it over as a belated Fathers Day gift and bring my dad with me (who got me into the Allman Brothers) So that will be neat.
By the way, Happy Fathers Day to all who it applies!
(That means you too, Duane!)
