If you guessed he earned a merit badge for this, you'd be right. His next project: organizing a male breast milk bank for gay parents.

Charles at LGF posts pix of children trotted out for the endless Palestinian protests and labels them Palestinian Child Abuse. Sad to see a similar thing happening here.
Posted by: Retread at June 15, 2007 07:54 AMThe flag appears to be faded and well worn. And, there are palm trees in the background thus negating this Cub Scout being in or around Berkely, CA. The traditional methodology for destroying US Flags that are no longer functional is to burn them in a properly administrated ceremony. This could well be that situation.
Posted by: AnotherSource at June 15, 2007 09:18 AMVery funny Donnah, now who's trying to bend our minds ?
1. It was Flag Day
2. I see a swamp cabbage tree
3. The flag is folded and worn....being retired respectively.
Now you owe either Flag Day or the Boy Scouts some proper recognition.
brat :)
It looks like there are several more flags in the fire. That and the fading on the flag that the Cub Scout (not Boy Scout, yet) tells me that this is a legitimate flag burning where old flags are retired.
Posted by: kbiel at June 15, 2007 11:27 AMSometimes you have to stretch the truth a little to raise public awareness for important issues -- like male lactation.
Posted by: Donnah at June 15, 2007 02:39 PMWell, well, well. You had from Berkeley.
Posted by: Retread at June 15, 2007 04:24 PMMade it plausible, didn't it? Heh.
Posted by: Donnah at June 16, 2007 01:07 AMThey should start making flags out of flame-retardant Nomex and not tell anyone. It would frustrate the hell out of would-be protesters.
Could also be used as a patriotic fire safety blanket.
Posted by: rg at June 16, 2007 01:50 AMAnotherSource makes some good points, but I call BS on his assertion that there are no palm trees in the Bay Area. Trust me, I lived in Berkeley for seven years, and they have palm trees.
Posted by: Sean M. at June 18, 2007 01:47 AMFor whatever it's worth, the official Boy Scouts Of America website has instructions on destroyng worn-out flags at http://www.scouting.org/media/flag/07.html
I am an Eagle Scout (class of 1981 - Choctaw Area Council, Mississippi) and former assistant Scoutmaster for a local troop here in north Florida (Suwannee River Area Council). Burning retired, damaged and wornout flags is the proper, traditional, respectful method.
Posted by: Carl at June 18, 2007 02:19 PMdamn Carl.. an Eagle ?? Congrats ! that isn't even easy.
