Wednesday's Duane Allman Pic

duanehourglassanother.jpg
Another pic of the misled cats known as the Hourglass.
Luckily its grooviest member (front row right) was already working on the slide-playing (mutton) chops that would make him a legend.
Wail on, Skydog!

The stripes! The thin...tiny....stripes!

Used to drive me nutso in the darkroom trying to focus a shot when someone's clothing had tiny, thin stripes like those shirts they're wearing in one photo.
Somewhere in the recesses of my desk there resides an Hourglass 8 track. One of these days I'll dub it down to a CD if I can ever remember to and toss a copy your way. Thanks for another ride in the Wayback machine Donnah.

I liked that cut "Got to Get Away"..I guess because it was the only tune with umph, and I think Duane was doing some badass stuff.

I'm cuttin' off the middle of my beard and leavin' only mutton chop sideburns -- Donnah, you are one groovy cat!

OOOOO talk about old school! Donnah you rock! Thank you for reminding me of the nasty neru jackets. I hated those things. They usually had some metallic thread in them and they itched like hell! Boy do I feel old. Gmac you can send one of those CD's my way too.Until next week ya'll, have a good one.

As always.....Wail on, Skydog!

mutton chops?

I thought they were pork chops

just kiddin'
it's a joke
...had nothin' else to do :)

just shows why it's bad to try to be like "everyone else" to get ahead. my fave are the beatle outfits in that allman joys publicity photo.

or

why it's bad to follow fashion, period. holy man, how do you put on threads like that and walk away from the mirror going "yeah, looks good."

two words: druh-ughs! lol

I rewatched Martin Scorcese's "Gangs of New York" last night on video; a number of the characters -- this is 1860, now -- were sporting cross-striped vests and striped pants together (in what today would be mismatched colors). Some of the "Five Points" outfits reminded me of the fashion eras Duane went through in the cut-short flower of his youth.

There's nothing new in fashion.

Hah, yea. Fashion takes big circles, for sure.
Glad that this one managed to not come back... HAHAH
And yea, I can see those big ole mutton chops. SWEET!

So I just bought Eat A Peach - Deluxe with the last Fillmore East show... AWESOME. I love it a ton!
Also love his chops later on.. how they hang down, curl in-an-around and out.
Oh on the Fillmore Concerts isnt it Duane announcing everything? (and if anyone has this Deluxe album with the last Fillmore concert then thats what Im talkin about) Cuz in the photos of it he does have a mic though he doesnt sing, so I suppose thats what that is for.

Thanks for a good ole Duane pic!

yes Ben that is him.. "speaking to you"

It is my understanding that they played three nights at Fillmore, and the night they really cooked was when a bunch of execs and producers were in the audience only (with some special invites) and Duane spent a lot of time explaining the background to each song. "Actually it's a T-Bone Walker song."

and about fashion...I swore bell bottoms were gone.

Well.. I have finally done it. I have a picture of Duane Allman that I am certain few people have seen, but my scanner is broken.

As soon as I can get her going it will be yours for the Wednesday pic, Donnah.
