After six months I'm glad to see that former kidnapping victim Shawn Hornbeck is out and about. Too bad that in this instance it's because some cretins trashed his family's memorial. On a much brighter note, here's a detailed write-up on the excellent progress that he's made heading up to his 16th birthday.
You can leave a birthday wish for him and/or a donation to his foundation here. For all the Duane Allman fans here, I've got a special pic in the offing for any of y'all who go on over and part with the bread.
Posted by floridacracker at July 9, 2007 06:48 AMI would be interested in contributing to his trust, maybe..but he doesn't have a Paypal link for that.
Just for the the preventative, education thing.
hmmm
Posted by: csason at July 9, 2007 12:26 PMI contributed to the trust earlier. It required I use an envelope and a stamp but I persevered! This time I think I'll send a card or something.
They do a lot more than preventative education. They're a certified search and rescue/recovery unit. Last week they helped find a drowned kid in a river out there. The kid's parents asked that donations be sent to the organization, so they must have appreciated their efforts.
Posted by: Donnah at July 9, 2007 12:35 PMIt's difficult for me to understand why there is so much hate directed toward this fellow and his family (his story, now the destruction of that harmless and deserved memorial). I'll pray for them.
Posted by: -S- at July 10, 2007 01:24 AMLet your prayers fly on little wings of cash! That they're still out there trying to help other people says a lot of good things about them.
I don't think it's coming from many people, really. My theory is that we just hear a lot from ignorant and malicious people because they have such a compulsion to show their ass.
