Rainy Summers II

More Florida kids enjoying the water on a hot day.
Some of my sister's grandkids in the aquifer-fed pond in her backyard.

That corrugated pipe is unsinkable.
It's like rolling a log.
I told them if an elephant can stand on a ball and roll it, then they could find a way to balance on it.
As a team they did it.

They're beautiful. Give them giant pieces of jaggedy metal much?

One glance at this picture and I was suddenly 9 years old again! Summer lasted forever it seemed and we played around water so much we had webbed toes. Thanks Donnah.

and hollow.. the actual wall of the pipe is hollow, that's why it won't sink..

And when those boys get older, they'll fondly remember this the rest of their lives.

When the girls were little, I would drag them around on a semi-tire tube (cheepskate..) so a couple months ago we went and bought a fancy tube from Play it Again, Sports.

They were not impressed, so we went to Snyder's in Haines City and got a real tube.. ;) besides, there is way more to learn from using 'what you have', than meets the eye. All those people who don't let there kids climb trees or play in pipes in ponds... are raising a bunch of fraidy cats.

A back yard pond for swimmin, dog included? Lucky kids!

Mine just got their first, pump-supported pool. Twelve feet wide and 3 deep. With a 'lil pump. It's a big event for the household.

Lucky kids, indeed. It had been a regular rainwater pond until my brother-in-law brought out the heavy machinery and scraped it down to the rock. He struck water and now it stays fed and filled. The kids will have lots of happy memories of the hours spent playing in there.
It's a pretty big pond on a lot of acres and has a dock good for jumping off of.

Yea, their grandpa is a gem, like a gem out of the mountains he came from.
The girl is teaching herself to play guitar now.
She wants him to make her an electric guitar like "Hannah Montana's", if he does,
it will be the first purple one he ever made.
