Duane with the ABB and the Grateful Dead, making sure his drummer stays on time.
Wail on, Skydog!
My best drummer joke:
"So many drummers,
So little time."

...I would guess at that show it wouldn't matter if they were on tempo or not. It still had to be a good show..
Thanks Donnah.. nice hurricane feeders yesterday, huh ?

Posted by: Paco Malo at August 1, 2007 01:05 PMyou can actually hear this show:

apparently that's peter green and mick fleetwood at the top of the photo. you can really hear duane crank it up when gregg sings on turn on your love light.
Posted by: mike at August 1, 2007 03:15 PMI was wondering who the giant was.
Posted by: Donnah at August 1, 2007 03:20 PMActually that drummer was me and Duane was trying to find out where the one was. Everyone was quite out of their respective minds on a myriad of substances and egos.
Posted by: Butch Trucks at August 1, 2007 03:55 PMand as far as drummer jokes go:
1- How do you know its a drummer at the door? It speeds up.
2- What's the differnce between a bull and the Buddy Rich Band? The bull's got the horns in the front and the asshole in the back.
3- what do you call those people that hang out with musicians? Drummers.
One more thing. Thnk you for taking on the Grover Lewis issue a few weeks ago. I wish more people would. The media gets away with pouring out the bullshit they do because too few people will challenge them. Again, Thanks.

Yea great shot of a sweet jam show, Donnah.
Thanks again for all the fresh, new pictures you turn up! =D
Now THAT looks exactly like the Fillmore West, with the lava-lamp pojection on that screen in the rear and the cramped stage....

Posted by: Peachead at August 2, 2007 07:47 PMHey guys, go to ebay and search 'skydog amp' and tell me what you think... pretty neat... just a bit too much $$ for me though. hah
Posted by: Ben at August 7, 2007 06:36 PMHey Butch,
Always wanted to thank you for the KILLER show you did with the ABB at the Fillmore East on 3/12/71 with Elvin and Johnny Winter. I still have a picture I took of Duane that night on my wall. And now, another musician joke just for you -
Q: What do you call a beautiful woman on the arm of a trombone player?
A: A tattoo!
Thank you. Thank you very much. I'll be here all week. Enjoy the veal.
Ah well, that's some literary career Lewis had: wrote his whole life and his only claim to fame is an article about the ABB. Heh.
Meanwhile, 35 years after the fact, the band's still a going concern and Duane's a legend.
And I'm always happy to fact-check someone on Duane's behalf. He was colorful enough without things being made up.
Where's Jaimoe ?????
1 more drummer wouldn't hurt a thing !
