Wednesday's Duane Allman Pic

Another in the series of shots from the Macon Coliseum show.
Wail on, Skydog!

Below the fold, Lowell George tells why he shops at Sears. It's funny his saying bottleneck requires a very particular kind of bottle considering Duane used...well, a cold pill bottle. Lucky Duane, then, coming across the perfect slide while laying helpless in his sickbed:

Thanks Donnah.. I can finish the week now..!!!

It is so funny, on a slide players forum I visit, there is a thread that asks "What have you used to play slide with?" It has gotten a little dated by now..some of the answers are a little ridiculous.
I draw the line at wax fruit.

Great shot of Skydog's technique..Dickey explained it quite well in an interview many years ago..and no one, not even Derek has it yet..

On another note, Duane welcomed another great picker spawned by the southern rock madness of the
day... Hughie Thomasson of The Outlaws passed on
this past week at his home in Brooksville, Florida.

details at outlawsmusic.com

Rest in Peace..

Speaking of Outlaw Music, I just posted a little piece on Willie Nelson on my blog. Just click on my pen name below and it will take you there.

The YouTube clip with Lowell George is excellent. Further, as always, C. Sason comes through with icing for Donnah's cake.

Many thanks.

Heh I've used my dads Quiktuner, friends beer bottle and an assortment of other smooth-ish objects for slide. Tried with a pen before... didnt quite do it. But wax fruit?? You'd have to be a fruit to try that hah!
Thanks for a good shot of Duane 'hittin the note'. Just passed Butch's description of it in Randy Poes 'Skydog'
