If not delicious, maybe it's a toy.
...I hope he didnt scrape his bum on that poor turtle... HEHEHEHEH
Hey wait a second... dogs arent supposed to be curious, cats are! =P
I brought one of those home (if that's a Florida Cooter) (just about that size too) after finding it trying to cross our local four lane during a drought while on my way to the Winn-Dixie. She (known from that day as 'Dixie') nestled right into the fish pond and booked across our yard like Hell's afire. Then I noticed she was doing it on sort of a missing-clawed stub, implying a Scottie had gotten a digit or two, but I could never swear it wasn't always like that since it was well healed. Not willing to take a chance, off Miss Dixie went to our wildlife rehab. (Along with a healthy donation for restockment of her lettuce provisions.)
Completely cool tuttle.

Sister- good for you on the rescue. When on the Alley we always stay on the look-out...
I wrote to Eric of Empire of the Turtles and he says it's a Florida Redbelly turtle. They're closely related to the Panhandle Cooter, which is your nickname, I believe.
Posted by: Donnah at September 25, 2007 10:35 PMYou can tell the dogs for me..they ARE delicious !!
Posted by: csason at September 26, 2007 10:07 PMOne of my students had a book about reptiles on their desk yesterday, so I pointed to the turtle and told him it was called a Red Bellied.
Thanks for the research, Donnah.
I took all the credit :)
("...which is your nickname, I believe..."
Only in the best, curdledcatpiss-free circles, yes.)
