Wednesday's Duane Allman Pic

Another of Duane at the Layla sessions in Miami.
The pink guitar strap is not his regular and I don't recall seeing it elsewhere.

These sessions made rock and roll history as surely as Chuck Berry's 1950's Chess sessions.

Thanks Donnah! You out-do yourself every Wednesday.

Hey Donnah! I am betting the strap belonged to Clapton. It looks more like something he would have rather than our boy. Been awhile since I've posted, but that doesn't mean I haven't been looking! Thank you for another good one.

"Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad" is still what i would point out to anyone that wanted to know why duane was one of the best.

Love it.. Those headphones look like something
Murrow used..lol

Thanks Donnah. ;) I have argued about who composed
what for too many years regarding Layla, at this point if they aren't aware..I just do them a favor and let 'em stay ignorant.

I'll give EC this..he knew Layla better than Duane, and he sings the vocals. And Duane didn't make piano his main instrument..he was into maple and glass, not ebony and ivory.

Deep in "The Layla Sessions" box set, track 5 on disc two is a long jam simple titled "Jam #5". Here Duane demonstrates in long-jam form what Richard above notes regarding Duane's contribution to "Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad?". I never expect to hear anything on a record as powerful as "Jam #5".

Proves Duane was a manly man! Very secure in his manhood. Didnt give a darn he was wearing a pink guitar strap! Especially during the 70s this was a big deal. Although I bet he would not wear it playing live! Layla was a kick ass lp but Fillmore East is and will always be my favorite.
