Cherchez La Tom

As this Ozark boy demonstrates, the lessons learned at FFA never really leave you:

A dispute over kicking turkeys led to a shovel attack in Polk County that has left a man critically injured, authorities said.

The Monday assault left Brewster Marsh, 44, unconscious, with "severe cerebral trauma" and unable to breathe on his own. He was in intensive care at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, officials said.

Jimmy D. Eaton, 17, is charged with first-degree assault.

According to a probable cause statement, witnesses said Eaton and Marsh got into an argument about kicking turkeys at 2114 E. 552 Road in Pleasant Hope. It's unclear from the statement who might have been accusing whom of kicking the birds.

Eaton reportedly got mad at Marsh because he called Eaton a baby, Polk County Deputy Bobby McAntire wrote in the statement.

I guess it just stuck in his craw.

When my baby boy lived in the Ozarks, he saw a turkey in the road. BTW, this is a place where school is closed the first day of hunting season, and the lunch ladies serve wild game for lunch. So he stopped and shot it.
On his way back he was stopped by an old lady standing in the way with a rifle. She said that was her turkey, and he could give her 20$, or go home and dress it up and bring it back.
He couldn't deny it cause the bird was still on his floor board.
She meant business. He cleaned it up and took it back.

lol at Nancy's bird story.. My Mom shot her first turkey the Christmas day of her 74th year..she has a tag on her car that says 'Ol Dead Eye.. Daddy was pretty upset, he didn't get one.

My Grandfather found himself in an arguement as a young man farming in s. Georgia, with a man and his two sons regarding their habit of 'cutting a corner'of his property while they were logging the area.
He had spoken with them several times about it, as he had to gather the neighbors and family to round up his livestock.

Someone in the crew pulled a gun, and my Grandaddy ended up killing two of them with a shovel. Our families still feud to this day, although the Sheriff and a jury acquitted him of any wrongdoing. A shovel can be a bad thing, in the wrong place.

You mean your grandaddy killed someone in a fight too? LOL.

Way to go, csason's mom :)
Our mom couldn't shoot, but she's badass with a shovel.
She saw the gardening guy on TV step on the shovel blade and the handle pop up to him - eezy-peezy.
Mom tried it (in her 82nd year)and got busted in the lips.
The poor thing also got mango poisoning all over her face this summer, and Donnah Lee was so mean that she wanted me to send a picture :/

Having just driven from NY to Lead Hill Arkansas and back (via Columbus OH, St Louis and Springfield MO, Nashville TN, and the Blue Ridge Mountain Pkwy) I can tell you without any doubt.......the country is crawling with turkeys. I mean they're everywhere.

Certainly not worth arguing over like they were in the 70's and 80's.
