Here's someone else I miss: the late, great Buck Owens, here reprising a classic of his with Dwight Yoakam. There just aren't enough songs that reference the fine art of rolling a drunk.
Or songs referencing Bakersfield, Pride of the Golden State, either, come to think of it. Got anything in a nice Fresno, mebbe?
Posted by: calebism at October 29, 2007 09:08 PMShared a pretty cool Duane moment with my 3 going on 4 year old son today that I thought I'd share. I had loaded my Ipod today with a bunch of Duane's session work, live ABB stuff and some interviews, just to listen, reflect and enjoy. So my boy sees me listening and says, "Daddy, can I listen?" Just so happened I was listening to Statesboro Blues from the Fillmore, so I put the earphones on him, he listens for a few seconds smiles and says, "Thats the Allman Brothers daddy!" He looks up at me with his big blue eyes, rubs my arm and tells me, "I love you daddy." He finished listening to the song and I think part of Duane singing Dimples, gave me the earphones back and danced off, smiling hugely. Thats the legacy folks, right there, some 36 years after he left us, Duane's hittin' the note for a whole new generation. WAIL ON SKYDOG!!!

Thank goodness we have Dwight Yoakam to carry on the Buck Owens legacy.
