My blessings upon the innovative and ultimately quite deranged mind of Hartford resident Horace Wells, for his introduction of nitrous oxide into the field of dentistry.
Hurrah as well for whichever post-op drug it is that currently has me wrapped in cotton, though I'm considering staying awake some day soon.

Keep napping. We'll wake you if something important happens.

I told him he has summer teeth...
some are there and summer not :)
Posted by: nancy at November 19, 2007 05:15 PMI worked with a lady who pulled her own teeth. She was a lovely and ladylike, but she was from the country and pulled her own teeth when she felt they needed pulling.
Posted by: Donnah at November 19, 2007 06:19 PMI LOVE nitrous. I only had it once, when I had all my wisdom teeth pulled, but it is the best drug ever. I was so anxious that I tried to crawl out of the dentist's chair but they started the nitrous and I leaned back and looked at the ceiling which was formed by those acoustical tiles with the black dots on them. Words cannot convey how deeply and completely funny those black dots were. Nitrous is wonderful stuff but I am blessed with really good teeth so I never need dental work.
Posted by: Carol at November 21, 2007 01:50 PMDonnah,
was it nitrous that was used when you woke up in the dentist chair speaking French ?
No, that was sodium pentathol (truth serum), Nancy. This is laughing gas.
