Lots of buzz about Ted Kennedy's upcoming memoir:
Bob Barnett, a Washington lawyer who represented Kennedy in the book auction, said he was "thrilled" with the deal for the book, which publishers expect will include details about Kennedy's personal life and his 45-year Senate career and the historic events he has witnessed."My sense is he's going to write his life as he lived it," Barnett said in an interview last night. "You will hear the [accounts] of these momentous events in the voice of the man who lived them."
I hope he includes old family recipes too. That one for waitress sandwich is supposed to be great.
Speaking of Ted, it looks like Washington University has too much research money:
Researchers at Washington University find a link between heavy drinking and high-risk sexual behavior. They said their study finds that alcohol dependence is associated with having a high number of sex partners.
Next study: is there a correlation between Chivas Regal dependence and greeting guests without your pants?

Posted by: csason at December 12, 2007 12:34 PMI hear Maryjo is still unavailable for comment...
How about the time an esteemed senator from AL, Howell Hefflin commented on one of Teddy's drunken off shore sexual escapades, by saying "it looks like he's doing a little 'offshore drilling' there..." when he was shown a picture of him in his speedboat porking someone?
I wonder just how hard the ghost writers are going to have to work using old newspaper and second hand account information to piece together a book presentable to the public given his Chivas addled brain is shy of a complete record?
How much of his career is going to get the 'turd polish' treatment?
I'll bet the farm there's scant mention of the 'accident' on 18 July 1969 in there, if at all.
(yes, I really don't like him at all)
Posted by: Gmac at December 12, 2007 01:17 PMWonder if he'll talk about any of this:
"Kennedy earned C grades at the private Milton Academy, but was admitted to Harvard as a "legacy" -- his father and older brothers had attended there, so the younger and dimmer Kennedy's admission was virtually assured. While attending, he was expelled twice, once for cheating on a test, and once for paying a classmate to cheat for him. While expelled, Kennedy enlisted in the Army, but mistakenly signed up for four years instead of two. His father, Joseph P. Kennedy, former U.S. Ambassador to England, pulled the necessary strings to have his enlistment shortened to two years, and to ensure that he served in Europe, not Korea, where a war was raging. Kennedy was assigned to Paris, never advanced beyond the rank of Private, and returned to Harvard upon being discharged.
While attending law school at the University of Virginia, he was cited for reckless driving four times, including once when he was clocked driving 90 miles per hour in a residential neighborhood with his headlights off after dark. Yet his Virginia driver's license was never revoked. He passed the bar exam in 1959, and two years later was appointed an Assistant to the District Attorney in Massachusetts' Suffolk County."
