"California Dreamin'" - Monterey Pop

Another pretty tambourine chick for James. They're everywhere! Of course, it's the other chick in the video, the one without the tambourine, who had all the talent.
Nice how this tune is still so good after 40 years:

Very nice. That one came out on the radio when? 1964, 65?

What a great, orginal sounding song.

Davey Jones was a pretty tambourine chick too.

One of my favorite songs. Cass had the voice but Michie was eye candy. Plus she aged well.

Another favorite: a strong song, funky costumes, and go-go girls. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYeUZJdrTwQ

She sure could sing...

Well, when you're in a vocal group having "the voice" is very important! ;)
I remember as a kid one day us sitting around laughing talking about how Michelle was a prop and the homely Cass insanely talented. What has people still turning up the radio after 40 years is John the songwriter and arranger and Cass the voice.

Yes, Michelle is still a beautiful woman. So is Loretta Lynn.

Carl- It was released in '65.
CJ- My husband said that when he got his Ipod it was the first song he downloaded.

Lot of great voices from that era. The girl who fronted THE SEEKERS (it's too hot and I'm too lazy to find her name). Spanky ("I want to Get to Know You"), Karen Carpenter (but that might be pushing the era boundary). Petula Clark. Not bad in an era dominated by four and five-member all-male bands.

You hit it exactly Donnah. Papa John was one of the five coolest humans at the time.

St. Louis DJ J C Corcoran often says that if Mama Cass would have split her sandwich with Karen Carpenter they'd both still be alive today.
