Do Look In The Basement

In 1914 The New York Times published a special cabled article out of Italy of a Baron who'd kept his sisters locked in the dungeon for 18 years. Almost a hundred years later, there are two cases in nearby Austria of commoners aping their betters by imprisoning girls in secret basement rooms.
In olden days there were laws about this sort of thing. No matter how rich you were, there were certain things that just weren't allowed for those not of royal blood -- like wearing beautiful clothing or immuring people. Truly an age has passed.

Unfortunately for the sister who managed to survive the full 18 years in her brother's dark, dank prison, bad timing and complete insanity prevented her from getting any couch time with Oprah Winfrey.

What did a nutcase brother do for the family reputation?

See "Natalia Goes Home" in a city in Algeria where she is from (Muslim, but the language sounded somewhat French) none of the females, from adolesent on, never, ever, leave the house. Thirty seconds on the front porch to answer the door is long enough.
Total captives for life.
Can't tarnish the family.

Algeria was a French colony.

I don't see the movie in Netflix or I'd get it.

Sorry,wrong title.
It was a documentary a couple of weeks ago.

Religon wasn't a major factor either.
The husbands and fathers that were interviewed said they would like to change, but it had been practiced for so long, and they did't want the disapproving remarks of the other men. In other words, they might be called pussies.
It was the most retarded lifestyle, for the most retarded reason.
This girl's father sent his daughters to Canada.

None of these articles ever answers the questions you want answered. Like if the women are locked in a dungeon, who does the laundry?
