Duane in New Orleans, like I will be tomorrow. My high however will be of the aeronautic variety.
Wail on, Skydog!
If you would like to hear Duane play some magnificent guitar you maybe havent heard before, you can find it at the adress: http://tela.sugarmegs.org/_asxtela/. Scroll down to delaneyandbonnie1971-01-23duane_greg_allman_capitol_portchester.asx, and your media player will stream an excellent recording of Duane (and Gregg) sitting in with Delaney, Bonnie and their friends.
Hope you enjoy.
Posted by: Tom at September 25, 2008 05:43 AMThanks, Tom.
Posted by: Donnah at September 25, 2008 07:26 AMThis almost looks like the Whiskey shots from the Lost in Space era..
Thanks Donnah !! as per always !
Posted by: csason at September 25, 2008 07:29 AMBackstage at the Warehouse, it was.
Posted by: Donnah at September 25, 2008 09:00 AMI loooove N'awlins! Just being there is a high in itself.
Nice pic!
Whatever happened to Delaney and Bonnie, anyway? Were they a one-hit wonder, or what?
This pic was worth the wait. Indeed it was at the Warehouse. Another one of my favorites Donnah. He seems very serene in this picture. Was this shot done the year he passed? He had on his "messy" jeans here. Oh no, I didn't mean to get into the fashion thing but....there you go!
Have a good trip Donnah and thank you as always. Also a big shout out to Tom for the info.
And as usual, Wail on, Skydog!
Posted by: cindy at September 25, 2008 09:17 AMOh jeez.. here come the 'look at the embroidery' comments..
Nice greasy lambchops, there Skydog..is that forty-weight, or PBR you're wearing ??
Why in the hell are you going to New Orleans (as in
Nooo ORleeens, with a special Lake county curve on it) pray tell..the last time I went I was disappointed to the max.
I was resolved not to say anything about the jeans, but since Cindy opened the floodgates...
What's WITH those things?! They look like they could stand up by themselves. I've heard of ballplayers having a "lucky" piece of clothing they never wash, maybe the jeans are "lucky" also.
Regardless, I have a strong desire to get hold of them and add them to the load of jeans I'm washing today.
And the hair is a sight. No getting around it. Even the best-looking guy loses points big time for not washing his hair.
Posted by: Starla Darling at September 25, 2008 09:53 AMYa'll have got to listen to the link Tom gave us.....Fantastic! Thank you much Tom!!!!!
Now if Tom will grace us with these little gems on Wednesday along with Donnah's pics we will all be in heaven!!!!Sigh............
Thank you both.
Posted by: cindy at September 25, 2008 10:17 AMI'm at the airport and just came upon a magazine that had several pics I didn't have. My trip is starting out productively.
Posted by: Donnah at September 25, 2008 11:26 AMCan't wait to see your find....see csason she might just find even more gems for us in N'awlins Darlin'! I say more road trips!
Be careful Donnah.......
Posted by: cindy at September 25, 2008 11:47 AMSince I lived in New Orleans (Nawlins') for 4 years, and probably puked on that wall he is leaning on -- get a look at the masons work there baby, masters with plaster -- I get to say this.
See those eyes on Duane.
Been there, done that, got that T-shirt.
"I know I play a bad guitar", but I lived in "high in New Orleans" universe many a moon.
Take that young man guitar player to Cafe DuMonde this instant, sit him at a table, and get his a quart of chicory coffee and 3 beniets quick. STAT dudes STAT. Camelia Grill ain't open yet.
Posted by: Paco Malo at September 25, 2008 11:52 AMOwen: I will teach why Nawlins' is a moveable feast. Fear Not. Storyville lives.
Posted by: Paco Malo at September 25, 2008 11:58 AMWell, I was taught Nooo Ore leans, just like Pee can pie !
For anyone who is wondering about that spot on Duane's britches, your lack of motorcyle knowledge is showing..
Duane's eyes look just fine to me..as do them long ass bony fingers he's doing the McNeil-Lehrer thing with..
Now, c'mon Donnah..WHY are you traveling there ?
Brennans ??
Posted by: csason at September 25, 2008 12:09 PMI think it should be a law that you cannot go to Nawlins without having eaten at least two beignets. You just can't get them anyplace else, and nothing else comes close.
Somehow, I can't see Duane and chicory coffee at the same table. He strikes me as more the real-coffee type.
Maybe she's going on some of those Haunted Places tours? We did that and it was amazing! Scary Mary was our guide and she was quite the artiste.
Donnah doesn't drink, so I guess she isn't going on the cocktail tour, where they walk you around to different bars and restaurants so you can sample all the (expensive) drinks.
Maybe my problem with Noo Ore leeens was that I was on my way to Lackland...or La Grange..CRS.
Awright.. It's time for BirdDog's poet/hotflash
of the week..
Skydog is still the man, don't matter what you say.
Donnah the peach is in Noo Orleens, I hope that she don't STAY !
Obama is a socialist, McCain is a prick..
Hurry up and get back home, with those new DA pics !!
Lookit Donnah on Bourbon Street,
Havin's herself a ball.
Maybe she'll stop by the Warehouse
And pose against THE Wall!
Just remember, Donnah, so there'll be no faux pas...
They don't throw you beads except at Mardi Gras!
I don't even know why she's there, but Mr.Cracker has people from Louisiana.
If she had a banjo on her knee, I would say it's her true love for to see.
Posted by: nancy at September 25, 2008 07:12 PMSorry been missing the ole skydog gang, but we in SE Texas got a visit a couple of weeks ago by a uninvited visitor named Ike!
He came in angry and mean and tore up everything! Theres nary a building standing in Crystal beach. Was a beautiful place too!
Setting here tonight typing this is a popup camper in our yard. Our double wide has gone to that big trailer place in the sky. Everything is out in the yard, and I just got internet back today.
But, I still can hear Duane Allman play sooo, we will just Rock on and have us a good time. And I can still play blues riffs on my old guitar.
But, heck how I be down and out when I still have Duane to listen too. Although I lost my rare copy of the ABB Filmore East Dvd. sigh.
My ears work, my sweet old blind dog survived, my family is with me, so what the hell...Play the blues!
Posted by: rememberingskydog at October 1, 2008 02:05 AMGosh remembering, I had no idea you were in that area. I am glad to know ya'll are alright. Hope everything will get back to "normal" soon enough....play the blues indeed!
