Through the smoke and the haze...I knew that the days...of the Master of Slide were nigh.

Smokin' hot is right, on every level! Grrrrr-eat, to quote a wise friend just recently quoting a tigerly friend.

Yowzer!!!! Fantastic pic Donnah! This is the quintessential picture of Skydog. Now I know that the smoke is actually from a cig....and why he would use such a special instrument for a cig holder I will never know, but...the essence of our beloved Skydog is in this picture. Smokin'!!!!! Would have been perfect if only he had washed his hair. Sorry, I had to say it;>

Thank you oh Magnanimous Procurer of the pics......glad you are home safe!

Wail on, Skydog!

I wonder, did people just not wash their hair as often back then as they do now? I can make allowances for general custom easier than I can for simple can't-be-bothered-with-itness.

"I swear dude, it wasn't the acid at all -- Duane was so hot last night at the concert that he started to catch fire. Freakin' wild chit man! Smoke surrounded him, we were sure that he would catch on fire any minute; luckily, his solo ended right before the spantaneous combustion."

"Dude, are you sure it wasn't the acid I gave you?"

"No, man, I got this picture to prove it. Lemme find it."

"Is this burning an eternal flame?"
The answer: yes!

Posted by: Starla Darling at October 8, 2008 10:15 PM

Starla Darling:

You write so well. You convey such a joyous spirit. You remind me of a young woman I wish I once dated.

Paco

P.S. Satan and Robert Johnson cut a deal that lit the eternal flame. While he was with us, Duane kept that flame burning bright.

You wanna see that flame in action today -- check out Buddy Guy's guest appearance with the Stones in Martin Scorsese's new film "Shine A Light". They perform -- and it's the high point of the film -- Muddy Waters' "Champagne and Reefer". It burns and crackles like a white hot blues furnace.

Oh Paco! I'm blushing so red right now! You are sweet! That's about the nicest thing anybody's ever said to me online or offline.
PS: I like the way you write too, so full of zing and zest.

Hi Markus! Sometimes it just does that, posts your comment more than once. Take a tip from somebody who's had it happen a few times: when you click "post" it may not look like it's doing anything, but nine times out of ten it has posted it right. Don't click "post" again, Just close the window and check back in a few minutes.

MDW:

Whow! What a guitar! You got a lot of cats around here drooling like Pavlov dogs over that one. Welcome aboard. In addition to Starla's sage advice, as you hang here on Wednesdays, you will find it fascinating: the ladies all want to feed more corn pone to Duane (and redress him, down to jockey short selections) and the guys are guitar gearheads who watch Skydog's finger placements in the still photos to figure out what he is playing. It's way cool. And nerds like me get to play also.

Come by and visit me at the best little rock and rock website in my mind, Gold Coast Bluenote.

http://goldcoastbluenote.blogspot.com/

Most importantly, always remember that Donnah built this wonderful sandbox for us to play in and we owe it all to our favorite "Florida Cracker".

See you down Highway 41 if they untie me from the whipping post tonight.
