This picture is so cool on so many different levels..

While many will find solace in noting Duane was WAY ahead of his time in personal safety issues (keeping his head carefully tilted to avoid accidental ash/hair contact) and others will debate whether or not starch was used in the wardrobe that week..

I revel in the notion that Duane's affinity with ornamental horticulture extended onto his stage presence..

Here's to YOU Skydog, and here's to an unending string of unoccupied fire hydrants in the sky !

My kid had a homeless drunk guy walk out in front of her on a busy 4 lane Saturday. It was a bad scene.. the guy didn't make it.

They said he wasn't looking either way..almost on purpose.

csason, I am so sorry for your child. Keep him/her close!

Now for the pic......another gem thanks to Donnah the great one! Just think, she has people email her these little jewels so she can share with us....boy are we lucky!

Head slightly tilted back, eyes closed, hitting the note....doesn't get any better.

Thank you Donnah and thank you Big Al for this lovely Wednesday Wonder.

Wail on, Skydog!

Great pic! Very natural looking, which is the best kind, where the person doesn't seem to know or care that they're on camera.

Ah.. but Starla.. Methinks the Skydog probably KNEW he was being photographed...Oh YES !

He carefully arranged everything for this shot..especially the cig between the hair thing.

But he doesn't look "posed." You can be "posed" without looking like it. At least, some lucky people can. I sure can't.

On this the 37th anniversery of Duane's death, all I can offer is a great big thank you and a may you be wailing in heaven, Skydog!

"....
Y'know that, women, never really faint,
And that villains always blink their eyes, woo!
And that, y'know, children are the only ones who blush!
And that, life is, just to die!

And, everyone who ever had a heart, oh,
Wouldn't turn around and break it.
And anyone who ever played a part,
Wouldn't turn around and hate it!

Sweet Jane! Whoa-oh-oh! Sweet Jane! Sweet Jane. Sweet Jane.
Sweet Jane. Sweet Jane."

(lyric except, "Sweet Jane" (by Lou Reed; my favorite versions are the original Velvet Underground and Cowboy Junkies cover versions.)

I do see this is a cigarette in this picture. A doob just makes more sense given the setting, the person, and the body language. But he is on stage. Am I arguing with myself. I should hit the delete key, I know it's arou...

Oh my word how one(two) pictures can make a shitty day oh so great. Thank you thank you..now I just need some Duane Video....

God Bless ya Duane! We miss you but I know for sure you are in a better place than we are! I know you can never go back but the 60s and 70s were so innocent compared to these troubled times.

Found this on a poem website.

Blues in the morning;
blues at night..
fingers across the fretboard
took him to some ethereal place.

Red hair tangled up,
eyes closed and we were transported too.
Traveling together in time and space.

He left us long ago.
But its as if it were yesterday;
when we close our eyes
and hear him play.

Wail on skydog, Wail on! We need your sacred notes more than ever!

Hi there Fl. Cracker. I am sorry to post this request in space designated for this photo, please excuse me. I am interested in purchasing a print of one of your photos. I hope this is possible. Can you please contact me? regazzanj@hotmail.com Thanks

Posted by: Reagan at October 31, 2008 09:54 AM

Hell, I'll sell you one, Reagan.. Which one do you want ??

Posted by: csason at November 4, 2008 09:15 AM

*huge grin* Or maybe, Reagan, you should hang around, make friends, be very nice to Donnah, and then drop a hint when it's your birthday!

Posted by: Starla Darling at November 4, 2008 10:03 AM

Hey.. Starla Daahhhling.. I heard you got more than a picture on your birthday.. ??

I wouldn't know..my big male ass has been hanging
around here for a while, and I've yet to get any decent racy pics out of Donnah..

Oh sure, one or two 'cheescake' ones of her sister..and one pretty hot one of her on the floor
when she was 'roughing it' in the military..but nothing like what I understand you got.

hrmph !

*giggles*
Yeah, I think what me (and Cindy too) got in our inboxess was very PGO...
Peachy Girls Only
A big macho man like you wouldn't appreciate it.
Besides, it's better you don't see such things, because it might make you very jealous, and we don't really wnnt that.
I mean, our Skydog really did have the biggest, most beautiful... smile.
Ha ha, got you that time. You pervert!

Posted by: Starla Darling at November 4, 2008 08:00 PM

I've seen the pics..

I'm not intimidated..

Posted by: csason at November 5, 2008 07:56 AM

That's the spirit Owen! Just keep repeating it to yourself over and over again: "I'm not intimidated, I'm not intimidated... no, really, I'm not intimidated!"

Posted by: Starla Darling at November 5, 2008 08:25 AM

Owen, he was in the water, it was cold....don't tell me you don't know about shringage......never mind.......

Starla, you know he's jealous about Skydog's big, beautiful

Smile!

Posted by: cindy at November 5, 2008 11:23 AM

Cindy, around my house we don't call that "shrinkage." We call it "assuming a more manageable size to aid in the conservation of body heat until Starla can arrive to help raise blood temperature."

Posted by: Starla Darling at November 5, 2008 11:39 AM

Starla, girl you are a mess!!! We don't really talk about that at my house, we just get that blood flow goin' like it's suppose to again.

Posted by: cindy at November 5, 2008 12:08 PM

I may be a mess (you're not the first to point that out) but I have it on equally good authority that I'm a WARM mess!
