I wonder what's going through brother Duanes' head

Posted by: Baron Thoma at December 17, 2008 10:18 PM

"I wonder if Spanish moss can be smoked."

Posted by: Donnah at December 17, 2008 10:40 PM

Isn't this that Confederate park up near Lake City ??

Maybe they're listening to the ghosts of the
ancient souls of past worlds.. or maybe the moss deal is better.

Digitally remastered and served up on Kodachrome XL via G. Henderson..Thanks buddy !

And you too Donnah..this time next week you'll be
getting those milk and cookies ready for the fat man, huh ?? Merry Christmas.

ha ha that cracks me up Donna

Posted by: Baron Thoma at December 17, 2008 11:07 PM

Donnah, regarding smoking spanish moss, I can't speak to that but an old bar band here in Tampa had an interesting approach, The killer line of one of their original tunes was, "We smoke mullet, and we snort sand."

Posted by: Paco Malo at December 18, 2008 10:24 AM

So that's what "mullet" is? Spanish moss? And what does happen if you smoke it? (I'm guessing it smells just awful.)
The only mullets I've known before stumbling onto this place are the fish kind and the haircut kind. The haircut my boyfriend got at Halloween time to go with his Dog the Bounty Hunter costume. Ick. :)

I once went as a mullet man for halloween

Posted by: Baron Thoma at December 18, 2008 05:36 PM

That's all the mullet-hair is good for, Halloween. I almost cried when Dustin came in the door with his hair cut like that. Fortunately he got it all cut off short the day after the Halloween party.

OK Paco for 20 points what's the name of the song with the sand snorting and mullet smoking?! And for another 20 points - can anyone tell me who wrote it?

Yea Starla I wasn't that bold I just got the wig, I wouldn't cut my hair like that just to cut it all off. I like my hair

Posted by: Baron Thoma at December 18, 2008 11:13 PM

I liked his hair too! I miss that ponytail. I mean, the new cut is very nice, but... I miss having the whole mess of it to put my hands in.

Posted by: Starla Darling at December 19, 2008 01:13 AM

Well ain't this conversation nice? Now I don't know for sure, I know Duane liked to fish.....but mullet haircuts....definitely NOT Skydog's style! Even Baby Brother had enough sense not to get into that sh*t! I think DA was bored in this pic. He looks like get me the heck outta here. Probably wanted to wet a hook instead of posing, which he hated to do.

To all my favorite Duaniacs....Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! And to Ms. Donnah...thank you for enriching our lives each week in these very troublesome times. A little Duane every Wednesday sure does help!

Wail on, Skydog! We miss you very much!

Posted by: cindy at December 19, 2008 11:11 AM

No, more likely he was anxious to take a little refreshing swim... :)

Posted by: Starla Darling at December 19, 2008 03:39 PM

My family always stopped off for smoked mullet on the way home from the beach. We ate it out on the carport. When I came home from Germany we got a place on the beach and got some mullet again.

Perhaps Duane's thinking "Maybe I shouldn't have used that Spanish moss for toilet paper."

Posted by: Donnah at December 19, 2008 03:52 PM

Uh-oh. Now I have to ask, what exactly will happen if you use Spanish moss for TP? And no, I will not go and find out firsthand. We don't have any around here anyway.

Posted by: Starla Darling at December 19, 2008 04:07 PM

One of the hallmarks of a True Floridian: knowing not to use Spanish moss when answering the call of nature. Red bugs.

Posted by: Donnah at December 19, 2008 04:16 PM

Ooooh, I get it now! Whew, talk about somebody havinga "bug up their ass." lol
I remember when I was about four years old watching my older boy cousin, in bathign trunks, sit down on a fire ant hill. Not for long of course. The crazy dance he did! The new words I learned! Also was the first time I really learned just what made boys different from girls. lol

Posted by: Starla Darling at December 19, 2008 04:28 PM

And the cure for redbugs is nail polish.

There, I said it..been bothering me since my last
therapy session.

I still smoke an occasional mullet..when they come into Sebastian Inlet full of row, but they aren't like the ones that come form those old roadside hothouses of the old days.. Plus, they are hard to keep lit.

Posted by: csason at December 19, 2008 06:24 PM

Red bugs!

Looks like the got some good over-the-counter medication now. No more putting nail polish on your tenders.

Posted by: Donnah at December 19, 2008 06:32 PM

Nail polish?! Good lord!
I hope I never have to try that one out. Shouldn't, as long as I remember not to try and blot with Spanish moss.

"Got-dam, Dickey said he was gonna be back an hour ago with the real GOOD stuff he heard 'bout... If I have to wait any longer, Im gonna tear me down some moss 'n lite up... what're you lookin at, Payne? I saw you checkin some out... think its any good?"

Hey, think Gregg's shirt's the same shirt from the Fillmore 1970 video??? Those were sweet shirts! B)

Posted by: Ben at December 20, 2008 10:44 PM

*faint, feminine voice of reason* Oh, please don't do that, boys! I'm sure Dicky will be back as soon as he can! You don't want to mess with that moss, Donnah says it's full of red bugs and those are hard to get rid of... *listens* Who is Donnah?! Somebody you had best be nice to, because many years from now she's gonna be very important to you! But if you're just gonna roll your eyes at her advice, then fine! Smoke that nasty moss if you want to! You'll see! *flounces away*

Posted by: Starla Darling at December 21, 2008 10:57 AM

They only had six or eight shirts back in the good ol days, Ben..(swapped at intervals) and now they are all worth 2 lbs of gold on Ebay each.. the real gold, not the
gold Duane and Gregg are wishing that moss was.

Posted by: csason at December 21, 2008 11:28 PM

Dang... I oughta get me a replica, or try dying my own pretty close. But then I'd need the long hair... I just cant do it!! (>_<)
I already wear stuff like Derek Trucks does (since before I found him out, eerily.) as in patterned button downs n jeans.

Anyways, Im already workin on gettin thin again. I not only got a face close to, but also a build like Greggs, too (minus height... darnit), and I've lost 25lbs on the record (dunno how much I lost before I kept track) and who knows, maybe I'll get enough patience to grow some hair out someday.

But for now, I'll keep workin at my Duanamic (Duane-am-mick) chops and dreaming of playin some to a crowd of appreciative folks who ask for more. =)
