Wednesday's Duane Allman Pic

duanegoldunkcrop450.jpg
This pic from what looks to be his sideman days at Fame studios is new to me.
It's nice to still be coming across surprises after all this time.
Wail on, Skydog!

That's not a strat. It's a Jazzmaster, I think..it has the Musicmaster body..but I think he used a
Jazzmaster in the studio at this time.

Yeah.. I just checked, it's a jazzmaster.

Well, its getting close to an end of a era. Duane's good old friend Rock songwriter Delaney Bramlett dies at 69 on Sat after surgery.

I'm sure Duane met him at the Pearly Gates with a smile and a dobro! He used to skip out on Allman Brothers shows and play with Bonnie and Delaney whenever they were playing.

I can hear ole Duane now saying, Man, Delaney I've been waiting a long time to play with you again!

God bless em both, and wail on skydog into the night with Delaney by your side!

Yea, my first thought was Curtis... but the guitar stopped me. Couldnt find any pics of whoever else you said, but whoever it is looks a LOT like King Curtis. (or perhaps did the King play a little guitar that we didnt know about???)

And you sure about that axe, man? All I ever see are Strats listed under Duanes early work in studios with Fenders, and I thought jazzmasters and all them had smaller horns on the body... ya man, all I find for old jazzmasters are things that look like Fender Mustangs, and those are long horns there.
(bad angle to see what our mystery jammer is playing)
