Duane and an unknown blowdaddy, Forest Inn, 3-30-69.
Wail on, Skydog!
Here's a bit of film from that concert:
A YouTube comment IDs the saxophonist as Donn Finney.
Posted by: Donnah at December 31, 2008 07:44 AMAhh, to see the ABB with Duane, just 200 people, for 4 bucks, and oxygen running shorter that cigarettes. Back in the day indeed.
Thanks, Donnah, great YouTube clip. Takes me back where I always wanted to be. I saw a lot of the greats outdoors in settings like this, but not Duane and Dickey and Co. Pardon my french, but this kicks ass.
Posted by: Paco Malo at December 31, 2008 09:45 AMIf that was the Forest Inn on Jacksonville's westside, then I was at that concert in '69!
Posted by: Mockingbird at December 31, 2008 09:51 AMHappy New Year to all my fellow Duaniacs! Hoping all had a very Merry Christmas.
Thank you Donnah for an early pic/film of the maestro. The Forest Inn....a virtual hub for talent that would change the music scene forever. East Coast Haight-Ashbury....the domain of Mr. Berry Oakley. What I wouldn't give to have been there. Yes Sir Paco...it kicks ass indeed;)!!
Donnah, thank you for meting out these gems for us week after week. May 2009 be your best year ever!
Wail on, Skydog!!!!!
Posted by: cindy at December 31, 2008 10:01 AMNice Post..Wish it were longer then 10 or so seconds, but what can you do. That Duane footage will resurface sooner or later. Thanks again for everything you have done and have a Happy New Year. Drink one for me..Wail on
Posted by: Baron Thoma at December 31, 2008 12:05 PMYeah, it's so short... *sigh*
Posted by: Starla Darling at December 31, 2008 12:48 PMI'll take that 10 seconds of Duane over most of the ClearChannel pablum these days in a flash. They even sold Duane's "Little Martha" to Gallo Wines for a commercial. This stuff is sacred.
Leave it be.
Posted by: Paco Malo at December 31, 2008 02:46 PMI don't even want to know how they decided "Little Martha" should go to selling Gallo wine.
Well at least, Michael Jackson hasn't tried to buy the catalogue yet. *shudders*
Hey if Publix can get Jessica..surely no one minds if Gallo gets Lil Martha ??
What gripes me is *whoever* it is that holds the keys sure is picky, as the two vids I posted with
ABB background music got yanked from the tube
for copyright infringement.
Must be something I said about Gregg.
Well.. Happy New Year to all the Cracker's..and all the wanna be crackers.
May your days be bright, your dreams be vivid..your dogs have stronger ACL's, and all
your favorite products have ABB/Skydog tunes
as theme music..
Happy New Year to all! Speaking of yanked video, an awful lot of Duane footage has been pulled off YouTube this year. I wonder where it went?!!
Thank you, Donnah, for an awesome public service in posting these pics.

Posted by: mike the bike at January 4, 2009 09:49 PMI figure you've seen just about all the Duane photos there are, but I ran across this one the other day and thought I'd send you there just in case.
It's on John Moore's blog. John is a Canadian maker of custom guitar pickups.
I'm a bit of a guitar nut and was drooling over the guitars in the photo.
Enjoy.
