Duane buckling down in the studio.
Wail on, Skydog!
My dad sold farm equipment to the Allman Brothers back when he owned a dealership in Hernando Co. I wonder if they remember him.
Posted by: ASW at April 15, 2009 09:57 PMGod I remember those ugly striped shirts. Navy blue & red, green & yellow.....another J.C. Penny's fashion faux pas by our beloved Skydog. The only saving grace is the Gibson he has straped on and the celestial melody he made come from it. But let's face it....the boy did not know how to dress! He picked some mighty fine accessories though, that little glass bottle contained magic.
Ms. Donnah, you are the best. Thank you!
Wail on, Skydog!
Posted by: cindy at April 16, 2009 10:25 AMYikes! Stripes! Those stripes hurt my eyes like a test pattern from Hell! See what you end up with when you don't have Starla and the girls to go shopping with you?
But on the same note about not knowing how to dress but still being able to make musical magic, has anybody seen this?

Sorry if it's way off topic, but I just saw it a couple minutes ago and it gave me chills! Served them all right for laughing at her like they started out doing.
One thing's for sure: Duane had lots of clothes. Between what he and his brother had, he seems to be wearing something different in every pic of him (or series of pics). They were conscious of how they looked. Duane wanted the band to look the part, dressed for show biz without being a flashy "ballet." Worked for them.
He especially loved those Civil War-style undershirt-as-overshirts, my personal non-faves.
But heck, Skydog always looked cool -- unlike some I could name. (Check Dylan in "Last Waltz")
Posted by: MJAlfie at April 16, 2009 11:20 AMWho'da thunk Duane would have something in common with Bobby Brady! ;)
Posted by: Lisa at April 16, 2009 02:06 PMLooks like part of one of brother Gregg's outfits from the Joys days...minus the tight white Tee-Kays.
Posted by: Paul at April 16, 2009 06:55 PMArrrggghhh! Please don't mention the Bradys! I'm still traumatized from watching just a little bit of the Jan-U-Ary Bradython on TVland around New Year's! *shivers, searches for pills*
Posted by: Starla Darling at April 16, 2009 08:41 PMSo Starla, does that mean you won't be having one of those ho-downs in your living room like the Bradys? Yee-haa!
Posted by: Lisa at April 17, 2009 03:56 PMThat's exactly what it does mean, Lisa, among other things.
And I have to wonder: okay, Mrs. Brady doesn't work. But why do they need a housekeeper?
And assuming they are actually rich and Mrs. Brady is a lady of leisure, why do they have three kids to a bedroom? And why is there apparently no toilet in their bathroom?
That part about the bathroom is un-canny!
*everyone groans*
Hey y'all, got me one of those little netbooks loving it!
You might want to check out moogis dot com as it looks like they are gonna soon be starting moogis mondays. for a small fee you can watch one concert without subscribing long term. How cool is that!
I have been having lots of fun on twitter, nothing like letting the whole universe know Im nuts! woo, woo, play the blues!
Posted by: Sheila at April 19, 2009 06:23 PMStarla what is wrong with stripes? I think I have some old PJs made of the same material. whoopee, me and Duane in matching Ts..well I can dream cant I? lol
Posted by: Sheila at April 19, 2009 06:29 PMHeh heh heh, his n hers jammies, aint' you cute? Do yours have the feet sewn in?
Now I on the other hand, have some adorable aqua-blue pj's printed all over with little Airstream trailers and pink flamingos. THey even have matching socks to go with them. Very cute. Anybody from Florida ought to really appreciate my flamingos.
Starla, they must only sell those in Florida or I would own some too!
Posted by: Sheila at April 21, 2009 05:51 AMBut I got them in Maryland!
Sheila, I don't know if I mentioned this to you, but don't actually live in Florida. I live in Delaware (Della Where?!) and am originally from Oklahoma. I have lived in Florida but not for very long.
So you and Lisa aren't the only "Floridians by Association Only." :)
So your a Yankee huh? I was born a yankee in Iowa but I changed my colors. I saw the light. The south is right, for me anyway! lol
How bout Della wear? Since you are so clever making those alligator poodle skirts. Crocodiles got Crocs, what do alligator's got..gator aid?
Oh that was bad, I gotta go to bed, been up all night..
Posted by: Sheila at April 22, 2009 07:28 AMNo ma'am, I am no Yankee! Oklahoma is now considered South, but it was not (officially) open to white settlement till 1889 (some of you guys jumped the gun, you're called Sooners, hence the nickname the Sooner State) so was never aligned with either side during the War.
Delaware was a border state: slavery was legal, however the state never seceded and it fought on the Union side.
I live in Southern Delaware, which is much more identified as "southern" than the northern part of the state, which has much more in common with Philadelphia and New Jersey.
Hope you've been paying good attention here, there may be a quiz later on.
Starla you never cease to amaze! I tell you what your miles ahead of me in the history dept! I know nothing about Texas history, except the Mexicans used to own it. lol
Living in Iowa, in school I had to take Iowa history and learn all 99 counties names and locations. we were tested on it. I was 12, in the 6th grade and got about 12 of them correct! Worst grade I ever received in school. But, honestly never could understand why it mattered if I couldn't name them all or know where they were. At that time all the license plates had the name of the county on em.. the ones i didn't know I could look em up.
I hated the midwest and Iowa from the time I was born. I actually remember hating the state from about 5 yrs old on. It took me about a year and half to simply love the state of Texas and the people here. Thats when I realized the South is best all the way around...that my story and Im stickin to it!
Posted by: Sheila at April 22, 2009 03:32 PMPoor Iowa. Despised by a kindergartner. It doesn't get much worse than that.
You'd have done just fine if you'd lived in Delaware and needed to memorize the counties. There's only three: Newcastle, Kent and Sussex. That's north to south.
I admit, it's a good thing I never needed to memorize the Oklahoma counties. There's a ton of them, and many of them are real tongue-twisters. as bad as Mississippi, I hear they have some terrible jumbles of syllables there.
