A repost of the cape and ruffles pics from the Hourglass days.
Wail on, Skydog!
Trying to look a little like Buffalo Springfield....
Posted by: Mike The Bike at July 8, 2009 09:15 PMDuane looks like he cant wait to get that damn photo done so he can do something more to his liking.
Posted by: Baron Thoma at July 9, 2009 12:03 AMI can just hear the photographer saying "Dammit, hold still! Now hold it, hold it, hooooold iiiiit... okay, Mister Impatient, we're done!"
Posted by: Starla Darling at July 9, 2009 07:30 AMIs that a floor drain? Are they in a high school gym shower room!?!??!!!
Posted by: Mike The Bike at July 9, 2009 11:30 AMROTFLMAO!!!! See my caption from last weeks pic!

Wail on, Skydog!
Posted by: cindy at July 9, 2009 12:02 PMThe belt buckle on the first guy is as big as his head! lol
Oh, the sixies I remember it well, Buckskin was in, and there wasnt anything that was a sin! lol
Duane looks good in this this picture. Little Bro has a Beatle cut with tach. i like the look.
They do look like a young bunch of kids dreaming of stardom. So innocent, the Bros unaware of the triumphs and heartaches that were coming!
Wail on, skydoggies, wail on!
Posted by: sheila at July 9, 2009 12:04 PMI'll bet Duane hated this shirt after the shoot. I can hear him: "This ain't no ballet!"
Is that the guy with the bad teeth next to Baby Bro? They had one guy they had to ditch because his teeth didn't fit the standard for groovy teen bands.
I for one don't like Gregg's look here. He seems knockneed and slackjawed.
The drain seems to have an old paper towel on it. ALove that dispenser upper left. LOL
Posted by: Mari at July 9, 2009 01:53 PMGregg is just goofy-looking here, and not goofy in a good way.
If it's a shower, it's hardly the nice two-person deal I would enter into with my Black Amethyst body wash and my Lavender Sugar Scrub.
To truly understand the 60's you had to be there, like me and others of the era. The time was electric with new music, new fashion, of course drugs like LSD and the like. People were into exploring new attitudes and new styles. We wante to change the world and make it peaceful and safe.
Duane wore lots of frilly shirts and crazy stripes etc back then. large bell bottoms, eastern shirts, pointy shoes. The works, That was the fashion back then. (you oughta seen me back in my wide belt hip hugger bell bottom days! lol) They look like a typical flower power pop band which they were back then.
If you have ever listened to some of the old bootlegs from back then; alot of the Brothers music was much like everyone elses.
I hope I live long enough to get comments in another 10 years about the droopy drawers and the stupid music of today. Not much worth keeping thats for sure. But, then they said that about my day too.
And people are still wearing the 60s styles and playing and listening to our music. I was disappointed my generation couldnt change the world, but we did change people minds by opening them! I am very proud to say I experienced the hippy thing and the flower power thing first hand. We need more of that today. You really had to be there to understand how the moment in time changed us permanently for the better.
Posted by: Sheila at July 10, 2009 01:20 AMSo.. you're saying one of these guys wrote "Trouble No More", and another one played the slide on that tune ?
Amazing.
Posted by: csason at July 12, 2009 05:06 PMUh pardon me, is this the line for the Paul Revere and the Raiders tryouts?
Posted by: Willard at July 12, 2009 11:36 PMWell, Gregg was actually on an episode of Super Boy. Anybody remember that show? My oldest son loved that show when he was little cuz he's always been into super heroes & comic books & the like (still is). Gregg played a villian in that episode. We actually recorded it cuz Gregg was on there but that has been so long ago, I have no idea what ever happened to it. I don't think he was sporting a cape though. :)
Posted by: Lisa at July 13, 2009 01:45 PMSo I gotta admit I am older and greyer like Butch and Gregg, but I still love my rock and blues! Never wore blue suede shoes! Elvis was before my time, but I was in the "groove" when ABB made it big.
Old hippies never die, they just get "recycled"!
lol
I know not many people like Gregg's wild and wooly ways. But, we never got to see Duane grow into his fame and see how he would have handled it. We will never know, just speculate.
Man, Gregg was a looker in the 80s around the time his second solo lp came out. I still love that album "Im No Angel". Theres many of those songs that i really love in that lp. Like the one with Don Johnson, "Evidence of Love". I just like his voice.
And I will always respect Gregg for hanging in there and maintaining the legacy of the Allman Brothers Band. (If you ever read Midnight Rider or Skydog you know Gregg was once totally dependant on his big brother) I dont think Duane would have ever believed his little brother could have kept the band rolling these many years. 1969 Abb, 1971 Duane passed. Thats 38 years of rode, hard and put up wet tour miles.
They say the road really takes a toll. I just feel fortunate hes still with us. When Gregg goes the remanants of the original band will die with him. Oh, there be sons who take over the vocals, and most of the band. Devon would be a good choice.. but I dread it and hope I never live to see him go. You see when I see Gregg play up there on the stage, I see Duane too. I cant help it, I always will.
God bless all you little Skydoggies, hope you week is good to ya!
Posted by: Sheila at July 13, 2009 08:17 PMGregg as villain in a show called Superboy... now that has got to be funny. For some reason this has tickled me no end. *hides face, giggling moronically*
Gregg really did have the best hair. Lotta women would kill and pillage for hair like that. Even yours truly...oh wait a minute, I'd look gross as a blonde! lol
