Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize

He hasn't done anything, but they think if he does do something it'll be really good:

President Barack Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday in a stunning decision designed to build momentum behind his initiatives to reduce nuclear arms, ease tensions with the Muslim world and stress diplomacy and cooperation rather than unilateralism.

wheresthebeef200.jpgObama said he was surprised and deeply humbled by the honor, and planned to travel to Oslo to accept the prize.

"I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many transformative figures that have been honored by this prize," he said. "I will accept this award as a call to action, a call for all nations to confront the challenges of the 21st century."

Many observers were shocked by the unexpected choice so early in the Obama presidency, which began less than two weeks before the Feb. 1 nomination deadline and has yet to yield concrete achievements in peacemaking.

Expect him to win this year's Grammy for best album, because based on anecdotes of his shower-singing abilities, if he ever went into a recording studio the results would be pure awesomeness.

When I first heard it, I thought it was a joke, and not a very funny one either. Honestly, if the man had as much humility as he has tried to project, he'd graciously decline it on the grounds that he hasn't earned it yet.

The last day to nominate someone for the award was on Obamas 12th day in office.......

But the award is a joke anyway. Sheeeet, Arafat won one.......

That's correct. When he was nominated he was still picking out furniture for his new crib.
The prestige has been minimized....laughable.

It's like those high-school popularity contests, where the one picked most likely to succeed is mainly picked because they have lots of friends who want them to succeed, and not necessarily because they really are on that track.

Only this time the *friends* want you to do everything he says..after all he *won* the prize.

We'll have a whole slew of these Al Gore/Obama types depicting the new world to all the kiddies of the future.

The Future of Friends.. neat.

I am not one of those who thinks he was born in Kenya..like Rush. I am thinking more along the lines there was a star over Oahu...

It's a joke. We are being globalized as we speak, in ways we cannot return from..and Nero plays away.
