Wednesday's Duane Allman Pic

A Layla-shirted Duane smiling and reading what I'd guess is a manual.

Come in, Come in kids, Ole Uncle Duane has a bedtime story to read to you. This one is called, Donnah and the Box of a Million Pictures. If you get tired while I'm readin' just lay your head back and Wail on!!

And Willard wins! How bout the Layla-shirt-patterned sleeping bag?
I thought the bedtime story was called "What's That I Hear From the Swamp?"
He really does have the prettiest smile.

OK, now I am really, really impressed!! I have never seen this pic before. Donnah you must have cracked open the cold case files for this one! What a terrific picture. Ole Uncle Duane can read me to sleep anytime, but I would prefer he play me some sleepy time blues on the Les Paul. I'll take either one please.

Thank you, Donnah you are simply amazing!

Scootch over, Cindy, I wanna get in on that too!*fluffs up pillow, pulls flamingo-pink blanket up to chin*

Question? what are those shoes he has on???? They look like bowling shoes. I've never seen any pictures with him in bowling shoes either.I've seen pics without any shoes or clothes, with boots, and a semblance of sneekers, never bowling shoes! I'm sure Donnah has lots of pictures with lots of surprises!

Maybe he just got back from rolling a few strikes and absentmindedly walked out of the bowling alley without returning the shoes?

Posted by: Starla Darling at January 28, 2010 11:34 AM

Well at least he's not sitting on the toilet! lol. Just thinking that might be the kind of picture Gregg would take and then run for his life!!

This is a great pic Donnah! Never seen this one before. Thank you for sharing. And happy reading Duane sweetie.

P.S. to Starla - my dad was an avid bowler & used to come home with his bowling shoes on all the time. lmao

*slides over in giant bed* Wanna join the slumber party, Lisa? Plenty of blanket for everybody! lol
Bowling shoes have improved in looks somewhat, last I checked. They've even gotten fashionable in some circles. Pity.

Those are spats he's wearing..we all wore them back then.
And the book is "The Anarchist's Cookbook" by Julio Chiles.

Spats? Spats?! Ha ha ha!

Ole Duane must have liked those shoes...he's wearing them on the cover shot of Anthology 1 with a fishing pole in hand.

I'm in Starla! Maybe after Duane's done reading to us, he can play a few lullabies with that sweet slide of his! The only thing is, knowing Duane, he'd just decide to cut loose and wake us all up along with the entire neighborhood/swamp! That'd be my favorite part of the story though! :)

Posted by: Lisa at January 29, 2010 03:00 PM

Well, of course, he'd wake us up! It's no fun having a pajama party all by yourself!

Posted by: Starla Darling at January 29, 2010 05:54 PM

That is true Starla, silly me. Who could sleep?!

Posted by: Lisa at January 29, 2010 06:49 PM

Not me! I'm going to stay awake all night...*yawns, rubs eyes, snuggles down under blanket* Yeah, I'm just going to lie here quiet and listen. I can listen with my eyes shut, you know.
