A strange California band that's still going strong. This 1974 song's a blast, whether you can understand the verses or not.

Another from the uncomfortable-looking-seating series.
Wail on, Skydog!
Here's a link to a "video" of Derek & the Dominoes' "Guitar Jam 5." It's really audio with photo accompaniment, one of which is a classic Gregg-Be-Gone shot created by Carl.

Duane playing his SG and rooting around for something or other.
Wail on, Skydog!
What a disappointment:
On the rather late date of Sept. 4, 2007, Fred Thomspon sat on Jay Leno's couch and declared that he was running for President, adding, "I don't think people are going to say, 'That guy would make a very good president, but he just didn't get in soon enough.'" Thompson was right. It wasn't the lateness of his entry - fully six months after most of his rivals - that killed his campaign. It was the candidate's own perceived apathy.
Not getting in soon enough was a symptom of the apathy. After showing up late for the presidential audition, he then gave his dead-on impression of a man not giving a rat's ass.
In the end I think we'll be choosing between Clinton and McCain. Egads.
Great editing job on this video. It had me laughing so hard I think my intestines uncoiled.
Big Weasel knows where the big piggy banks are and whose shit is weak:
A former gang member who founded an anti-violence group called No Guns has pleaded no contest to federal weapons charges.Hector "Big Weasel" Marroquin, 51, and co-defendant Sylvia Arrellano, 25, entered pleas Thursday for three counts of manufacture, distribution and transport for sale of an unlawful assault weapon.
Arrellano also pleaded no contest to machine gun conversion and possessing a silencer and acknowledged that the crime was committed for the benefit of a criminal street gang.
...
Marroquin founded No Guns in 1996, ostensibly to reduce gang and gun violence. The group received $1.5 million from the city as a subcontractor on anti-gang efforts but its contract was canceled last year after authorities learned that Marroquin had hired relatives, including his son, Hector "Little Weasel" Marroquin. The son is an acknowledged 18th Street gang member who pleaded no contest in June 2007 to home-invasion robbery and was sentenced to nine years in state prison.
If Weasel pere doesn't use the quiet time afforded by the penetentiary to author some delightful children's book about the escapades of the Weasel clan I'll be sorely disappointed.

Another shot of Duane and Dickey playing in their down-time on the road.
This one has Dickey doing slide honors.
Wail on, Skydog!
From the fabulous 1981 Punk/New Wave documentary Urgh! A Music War, an at-that-time (1980) unsigned Go-Go's doing my favorite version of the Charlotte Caffey-penned "We Got the Beat." They were tearing it up at the Whisky and lead singer Belinda Carlisle was considerably less glamorous here than she became later. Love the random audience members jumping up on stage.
While looking for this vid I was amused to see all the uploads of this song by Guitar Hero guy gamers pretending to play the tasty licks Charlotte's laying out here. Not a lot of successful women lead guitarists out there.
