The Danger Lurking In Every Cockpit

The pilots.
"Air Crash Investigation" gives a terrific recounting of Eastern 401's unscheduled stop in the Everglades:

Pt. 2, Pt. 3, Pt. 4, Pt. 5.

Lots of folks owe their lives to a professional frog gigger. Hats off to Robert Marquis.

The Herald's multimedia presentation on the crash and its aftermath is here.

Execrable Reporting

Small town newspaper salutes Junior Duck Stamp winner::

The scene must have horrified Ramelin Schreibman, even if it's something most parents face at least once in their life.

Her daughter, Millie, was finger-painting in her crib with her poop.

Talk about being led on a wild goose chase: the medium for Millie's winning portrait of a Canada goose wasn't even excreta.

Big build up for nothing.

Holiday Meals Can Be So Stressful

Salty ham, salty relatives:

Police in Ohio say a woman shot her cousin to death during an argument that started because one woman didn't think the other was dressed properly for Easter dinner.

Columbus police say 19-year-old Danielle Pickens showed up Sunday night at the home of Evelyn Burgess wearing a T-shirt and jean shorts. Detective Steven Eppert says 42-year-old Burgess told officers she thought the outfit was inappropriate and disrespectful.

The women fought. Police say Pickens walked outside to leave and Burgess shot her in the head with a handgun. Pickens died at a hospital early Monday.

Eppert says Burgess told investigators she didn't mean to shoot Pickens.

Bet there are tons of leftovers.
